FRIENDS OF THE METRO PARKS IN LORAIN COUNTY, INC.

The Friends of Metro Parks in Lorain County, Inc. is the volunteer branch of the Lorain County Metro Parks. More than 400 Friends members work closely with park staff to assist with programs, animal care, plant care, special events, gift shops, and more. The park staff is dedicated to giving the citizens of Lorain County the finest park system possible and Friends support them in their endeavors.

Membership includes a subscription to the Friends Talk newsletter and 10% off at Nature Nook gift shops. To become a member, you must first attend a Volunteer Orientation and participate in an LCMP fingerprinting and background check. Orientations are held bi-monthly at the Carlisle Visitor Center. A minimal membership fee is required to cover organizational costs, including accidental insurance coverage. This annual fee is waived for members with more than 40 volunteer hours per year.

The Friends organization was formed in 1983 and is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees consisting of 11 members elected by the general membership. Each trustee serves a three-year term. Officers are elected by the Board of Trustees following the annual meeting of the general membership held each year in June.
