Summer Camp Games

Explore. Connect. Engage! Nature Camp will foster a love and respect for nature through outdoor activities, wildlife encounters, habitat explorations and much more. Each day of Nature Camp will provide a schedule filled with creative crafts, experiments, outdoor journaling activities, active team games, and plenty of fun nature hikes! Camps are also held in a safe environment with qualified and enthusiastic Naturalist staff.

EXPLORERS: YOUNG NATURALISTS

Come out and play in the great outdoors during this fun-filled week of Camp! Choose from either 10 am-12 pm OR 2-4 pm camp session for your child to attend. This camp is designed for first-time campers. We will explore nature from the entire Earth to your own backyard. The week includes hands-on activities, games, educational programs, live animals, and more! Explorers will receive stickers for their “Explorer Camp Wheel” for each day they attend.

ADVENTURERS: BACK IN TIME!

Want to learn how to become a park adventurer? For 2017, this full-day camp (6 hours) will include a look into the past, starting from the dinosaurs all the way to modern times while incorporating nature exploration. All of this will be done through hands-on activities, hiking, and a look at how people before us lived in our parks. This camp is a great way to meet new friends and earn adventurer knowledge!

OUTDOOR ADVENTURE CAMP

Summer Camp, Vermilion River Vermilion River Reservation

Outdoor Adventure Camp is an unforgettable opportunity for youth to explore the outdoors, learn new skills, gain confidence through team activities, and experience fun unplugged!

OAC is a great Camp for both returning campers and youth looking for a new experience! Campers entering 4th-9th grade will meet at the Vermilion River Reservation. This year we will have many new activities and field trips as well as activities that campers have enjoyed in the past, including kayaking and rock climbing! Join us for another great year!

Family Camp

SPORTS CAMP

June 26th - 30th
8am-Noon

Mercy Health & Recreation Center at Hollstein Reservation;
Amherst Beaver Creek & Splash Zone
Kids entering 3rd - 6th Grade
$55 per week (members of Mercy Health & Recreation Center & Splash Zone receive $10 off)

Sports Camp is designed for boys and girls. The camp will include fundamental instruction and game play experience in traditional and non-traditional sporting activities including; fitness, team sports, individual sports, and water sports.

Family Camp

FISHING CAMP

June 12th - 16th
9am-3pm

Sandy Ridge Reservation
Kids entering 5th - 8th Grade
$120 per week

This camp is for all levels of fishing experience. It includes lessons in: casting, baiting a hook, knot tying, and catch and release. All that plus new field trips and a fish fry! This camp also includes an entire week of program and take-homes. We’ll even take some time to go hiking and swimming!

WILD WORLD CAMP

June 19th - 23rd

Sandy Ridge Reservation

Learn about birds, bugs, reptiles and other wildlife. The week’s events include: hikes, critter catching, and awesome field trips!

Just like the other Sandy Ridge Reservation camp (Fishing Camp), it includes an entire week of program and take-homes.

Family Camp

TEEN BOATING CAMP

Tuesday - Thursday, June 6th - 8th
9am-3pm

Lorain Sailing & Yacht Club
Kids entering 9th - 12th Grade
$200 per child

This Camp is for students entering 9th-12th grade. Participants will engage in a wide variety of boating opportunities including paddle sports, power boating, and personal watercraft! Students will also follow proper boating safety guidelines and learn boat handling techniques. Each day includes on-water experiences with guided instructors.

Participants are required to complete the Ohio Boaters Education Course prior to Camp. Please check out the Lorain County Metro Parks programs for upcoming classes, or contact Jannah at (440) 967-7310 for more OBEC opportunities.

SPIRIT OF AMERICA BOATING EDUCATION CAMP FOR LORAIN COUNTY KIDS AGED 12-15 YEARS

Family Camp

Mercy Health & Recreation Center, Splash Zone, Lakeview Park, and Lorain Sailing & Yacht Club

**NOTE: This camp requires the completion of an application**

Do you want to learn more about boating while spending time on the water this summer? Take part in this camp and you can learn safe boating skills directly from certified boating instructors and ODNR Division of Water craft and US Coast Guard officers, earn a required state boating certificate, and become a "Captain of Your Own Vessel!"

Commitment to participate in all of the following disciplines is mandatory for all Spirit of America Boating students: Family Camp

  • Classroom instruction, including the Ohio Boating Education Course (OBEC)
  • Pool instruction (drowning prevention & equipment preparedness)
  • Four full days of training on the water in canoes, kayaks, sailboats, motorboats, stand up paddleboards and personal watercraft (jet skis)
  • Graduation ceremony and family boating opportunity
