Explore the Lorain County Metro Parks through a variety of nature programs designed to educate through hands-on experiences. Programs are offered throughout the year at various reservations throughout the county. Unless specified, programs are designed to accommodate all ages at no charge. A detailed list of programs and accompanying articles can be found in The Arrowhead bi-monthly newsletter.

Nature Blog

Seasonal changes can be observed through watching wildlife. Animals prepare for the cold winter ahead by stocking up food stores or building new shelters. Plants change color as pigments are used up. Observe these changes at home or by attending one of our nature programs today!

► Scouts

Lorain County Metro Parks offers a variety of public programs that meet requirements toward Girl Scout and Boy Scout badges. These programs are free, however we ask that scouts pre-register for these programs as space is limited. Scouts do not receive the patches at the programs; it is the responsibility of the leaders to purchase these through the respective Councils. Please look at the Arrowhead, our bimonthly newsletter, to see the current Scout programs being offered.

Indoor Nature Play Spaces

Engage your child in nature play rain or shine inside one of Lorain County Metro Parks’ indoor Play Spaces. Here, nature awareness is encouraged through a variety of interactive activities geared toward young budding naturalists!


Outdoor Nature Play Spaces

Lorain County Metro Parks encourages nature play among all the members of your family! In addition to outdoor recreational playgrounds, we have outdoor areas set aside to create opportunities for all ages to interact with the natural world.


Live Animal Exhibits

Lorain County Metro Parks encourages visitors to learn more about native wildlife through live animal exhibits. Several reptile, amphibian, fish, bird, and mammal species are on display and can be seen during open hours at the following locations:
