There is an art gallery are at the Carlisle Visitor Center that features artwork from local artists. Call Carlisle at (440) 458-5121 to learn about displaying your artwork. ► Photography

Lorain County Metro Parks has several popular places to take photos at for beginners to professional photographers. The most popular places are Schoepfle Garden, Lakeview Park, Miller Nature Preserve and Vermilion River Reservation. Permits are needed for wedding photos and professional photography taken at Schoepfle, Lakeview and Miller Nature Preserve. There may be a fee included with the permit. Lorain County Metro Parks offers a variety of public programs that meet requirements toward Girl Scout and Boy Scout badges. These programs are free, however we ask that scouts preregister for these programs as space is limited. Scouts do not receive the patches at the programs; it is the responsibility of the leaders to purchase these through the respective Councils. Click on the program section to see the current Scout programs being offered.

► Maple Sugaring

Maple Sugaring is offered in the beginning of March at the Carlisle Visitor Center. School teachers can schedule a program during the week for their classroom by calling (440) 458-5121. Public programs are offered on the weekends along with pancake breakfasts on some weekends. Click here to find exact dates and times of Maple Sugaring and Pancake Breakfasts.

► Underground Railroad

The Burrell Homestead was a stop on the Underground Railroad as runaway slaves made their way to freedom. Programs on the history of the Underground Railroad in Lorain County is put on throughout the year. Click here for the program section of the website to see the latest programs .
